About

Hi there,

I am so glad you are here. I want to help you connect with the tools and support you need to promote health.

On your terms and at your pace.

Most people I work with have tried everything the doctor has told them to do--and sometimes even more--to balance blood sugar, lower insulin, and increase energy. They struggled to figure out how to eat while recovering from an eating disorder and managing a chronic condition like PMOS (previously PCOS) or insulin resistance. Just like them, you probably have tried all the diets and none have gone the distance. All the food rules just left you with a complicated and chaotic relationship with food.

I wish you knew you were given the wrong tools to manage your health and that's not your fault.

Together, we can work to help you reconnect with your eating wisdom. I believe you can do this no matter how long it has been since you trusted that innate skill.

I wish you knew that starting another diet to help manage health is not your only answer. Starting another diet may initially feel hopeful yet that is only short lived. It is seductive though.

What won't you find in our meetings? You won’t find good/bad food lists or pushes to wake up before 6 am to get that workout in. You won’t find tough love lectures or anything trying to shame you into making different choices. You also won’t find another scam or gimmick promising to cure your health conditions. I don't work that way. Instead, sessions with me are collaborative and focus on sustainable options to promote health.

Besides seeing clients, I am the author of Find Your Food Voice. I also had a long running podcast with the same name. This work you are wanting to do is hard work, but it is good work. I am deeply invested in helping you move away from the shame and guilt given to you by diet culture. I believe you were given the wrong tools—another rigid diet won’t work and I have 25 years of experience to help you explore other options.

What it's like working with me

Your session with me: I am person-centered which means you are in charge and I am your biggest cheerleader. I lean on you to let me know what is important to focus on. From there, we discuss the options that fit for you to make changes along with the evidence from research and from my years with people going through the same thing. If you are ready to unpack a lot of the details and need someone patient--that's me. If you are looking for quick results and a diet sheet, well, I won't be your first choice.

My energy: my friends tell me I am warm, easy to talk to, encouraging, and a bit goofy. I tend to work well with shy folks as well as those who are super outgoing.

Outside of work: I love writing and walking my dog Doug. I also love live music especially punk + funk and trying out new food trucks.

Fun facts: I am a divorced mom of two teens and learning Spanish. Even though I am a dietitian, I don't enjoy cooking. Weird I know! Thankfully mi novio loves to cook!
